  1. very nice tool
one suggestion, to add the option to import the holidays from today only (to avoid impacting the past in the project file)

please let me know if you decide to implement it

  2. Hi, I was able to launch this. But when I press next after selecting teh outlook holiday file either automatically or manually, the next screen gives me a blank white screen without any holiday tree and "Next" is not highlighted. Not sure what went wrong.

  3. Sorry about the delay in recognising these comments - didn't have the right box ticked in the settings :(

@gutty - definitely planning to introduce date filtering because as you say, past holidays are not really relevant to any current project.

@amos - can you let me know some more details such as the version of Windows and Microsoft Project that you are using.

  4. @Amos - version 2.0 release today has the default option to only select future holidays. Enjoy!

  5. Quick question, i'm new to Project, I used the import wizard, and it worked great except i've just realised the info within the OUTLOOK.HOL file from microsoft is not state specific within Australia. This has lead to several conflicting dates within Project. I've fixed the OUTLOOK.HOL file to only include the relevant dates, however the conflicting dates still exist within Project. How can i delete them and restart?

  6. No worries, wasted a bit of time, but got it sorted. I didn't realise there was a checkbox for Reseting calender before import. Cheers -John

  8. Would be cool if I could import not only bank holidays to standard calendars but also holidays to resource calendars(e.g. from txt.file)

  9. I agree with Gutty.
Do you intend to release a project 2010 compatible version?

    Many thanks

  10. @gutty - I have just updated the tool to find the Office 2010 Outlook Holiday File. I can't test that it works with Project 2010 so perhaps someone could test that out for me...

  11. Hello. Thank you for this wonderful tool! It was simple to use and worked flawlessly for me. My only suggestion would be to reflect all of the US Federal Holidays, which can be found at http://www.opm.gov/Operating_Status_Schedules/fedhol/2013.asp (includes from now until 2020). From here, users can deselect any that do not correspond to their project.

  12. Fantastic concept (just what I'm looking for in trying to put holidays in for a 4+ year project), but when I try to open the .mpp file, I get a compile error. I click "OK" and then just a blank project appears, no wizard. Thoughts? FYI, Outlook and Project, both '07

    1. Obviously I am not that attentive to this project anymore, sorry about that. If you were still interested, do you have more detail on the error received?

  14. This tool sounds like just the ticket for what I need to do. Only problem is that the macros are password protected and I can't open them to read and inspect them to assure they are safe. I never load macros I can't inspect. Can you send me the password or an unlocked version? (rob@robason.net)

  15. Yay! Worked for me. I love the radio button and checkmark approach! I used the future only, and picked via checkbos only the dozen or so relevant. Success. Using MS Project 2010 and Outlook 2010. I found you Googling for "MS project 2010 holidays load" -> Result #1 :)
I konw I coulda made, for example a New Years Day occurrance yearly repeating for x, but this was easier and interesting approach. Thanks for making a difference and sharing this awesomely designed macro. :)

  16. Might I know why MS Project 2010 using the wizard could find outlook 2010 but saying the outlook.hol is invalid format? I had tried download the outlook.hol from http://www.outlook-tips.net/how-to/missing-holidays/ but still saying the hol is invalid format.

    1. The first line of the file should have a token at the start of the line which is "ÿþ" being Chr(255) & Chr(254)
